Thanks to good medical care, Ron’s partner Cindy is doing well today, and that’s a big part of why he supports the Heart & Stroke Lottery: “Heart disease and stroke are happening to more people these days. I want to do what I can to help.”

When the phone rang, Ron thought it might be a solicitation call. He recalls: “When I realized I’d won, I couldn’t speak. The representative kept saying ‘hello?’ I’ve never won anything in my life.” He adds: “I didn’t tell anyone when I bought the ticket because I didn’t want to jinx myself – if it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any at all!” Choosing $50,000 cash was easy: “I have a fishing boat – now I can upgrade to a larger electric motor!”

Happy to have extra funds in savings, Ron and Cindy are planning weekend trips. He jokes: “I’m getting too old and cranky for travelling so we’ll stick close to home!”
