How old do you have to be to purchase a lottery ticket?

Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Tickets cannot be ordered in the name of a minor.

Can someone purchase a ticket if they live outside of Ontario or overseas?

You must be physically present in Ontario at the time of ordering Lottery Ticket(s). Ticket(s) must be mailed to an address within Ontario.

How much are Heart & Stroke Lottery tickets?

Heart & Stroke Lottery tickets are $100 each, 3 for $250 and a 5 for $375.

How do I order a Heart & Stroke Lottery ticket?

There are 3 easy ways to order your lottery ticket(s).

  • Online – Purchase your Heart & Stroke Lottery ticket(s) online through our SECURE online site at heartandstrokelottery.ca.
  • Phone - Call 1-888-551-1111 (in GTA 416-661-1511)
  • Mail – Fill in the order form on the website or one received in the mail and send it with a cheque made out to:

    Please note that tickets ordered online are the most cost-efficient for the Foundation.
Are lottery tickets tax deductible?

Lottery tickets are non-tax deductible in accordance with Canada Customs and Revenue Agency policies. You can make a donation in addition to your ticket(s) request and receive a tax receipt for the donation portion of your order if your donation exceeds a minimum of $15.

Why did my online ticket order not go through?

If you are in Ontario and unable to order online, or your order did not go through, please call Customer Service at 1-844-512-1044 (in GTA: 416-977-1307) and we will be pleased to assist you with your order.

When are the Heart & Stroke Lottery tickets on sale?

Tickets are available from September 16, 2019 to February 14, 2020, or while supplies last.

What are the guidelines for purchasing multi-packs?

Guidelines for purchasing multipacks are as follows:

  • Only ONE method of payment.
  • Only ONE mailing address. (Must reside in Ontario)
  • Only ONE envelope will be mailed containing all tickets.
  • Up to THREE names may be recorded on a ticket (All tickets must contain the same information). Tickets cannot be purchased in the name of a minor.
My ticket contains a spelling/address error/ I haven’t received my official tickets. What do I do?

If your tickets have been lost; or, have not been received or you wish to make a name or address correction, please contact Customer Service at 1-844-512-1044 (in GTA: 416-977-1307) or by emailing lottery@heartandstroke.ca.

What happens if my payment does not go through?

If for any reason a payment is not processed, the ticket(s) and their respective ticket number(s) will be deemed invalid if payment cannot be verified prior to the start of the draws. Only tickets that have been paid for and/or have been verified as paid for are eligible to be entered for the respective draws.

I have misplaced my Heart & Stroke Lottery ticket, am I still eligible for the draws?

Yes, participants do not need their ticket(s) in hand to be included in the respective draw(s). For all other inquiries please contact Customer Service at 1-844-512-1044 (in GTA: 416-977-1307) or email lottery@heartandstroke.ca

What are the odds of winning in the Heart & Stroke Lottery?

The odds of winning any prize in the Heart & Stroke Lottery are approximately 1 to 2. There are 62,366 prizes available.

What are the Grand Prizes?

There are 7 Grand Prizes this year.

  • GRAND PRIZE #1: 1 Million Dollars
  • GRAND PRIZE #2: 1 Million Dollars
  • GRAND PRIZE #3: A 2019 Thor ACE RV (Model 30.3) OR Cash Out value of $140,000.
  • GRAND PRIZE #4: 2019 BMW X5 XDrive OR 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 AMG SUV OR Cash Out value of $100,000
  • GRAND PRIZE #5: 2019 Audi A5 Cabriolet OR Cash Out value of $70,000.
  • GRAND PRIZE #6: 2019 Legend Vibe D20 deck boat OR Cash Out value of $60,000
  • GRAND PRIZE #7: $50,000.
What is the Loyalty prize?

There are five (5) Loyalty Prizes of LG Appliance packages valued at over $11,000 each.

What is the VIP prize?

There are two (2) VIP Prizes of $25,000 each.

What is the Super Bonus prize?

There are 7,251 prizes, consisting of 1 prize of $50,000 cash, and 7,250 winners of one free $100 Heart & Stroke Lottery ticket.

What is the Early Bird prize?

There is (1) winner of the Vehicle Package, this package includes (1) 2019 Lexus LS500 plus (1) 2019 Ford F150 Supercrew King Ranch (value $215,966.47) or cash out of $200,000.

What are the Electronic/Merchandise prizes?

There are (100) Electronic/Merchandise prizes* to be awarded, they are:

  • (50) Samsung LED 50" 4K TV
  • (50) Samsung Tab Bundle, including: 1 Galaxy Tab S5e 128GB, 1 Samsung Galaxy S5e Book Cover Keyboard, 1 Samsung compatible Pen, and 1 Samsung Galaxy Fit-e.

*All Electronic/Merchandise prizes are awarded as is with no cash out option and are inclusive of all taxes and freight.

What are the other cash prizes?

There are 55,000 Visa Prepaid card prizes of $25 each. These prizes will be awarded as personalized Visa Prepaid cards.

Are lottery winnings taxable?

Lottery winnings are considered a windfall and are not taxable in Canada.

If I win a car or a trip, can I take the cash instead?

Yes, you may take the cash out option for prizes that indicate cash out value. Please refer to the rules and regulations for a full list of cash out values.

Can I win more than once?

Yes, after each winning ticket number is drawn and recorded, it is then returned to the pot and is eligible for all subsequent draws, so it is possible to win more than ONE prize.

How will I know if I have won a prize? When can I expect my prize?

All winners will be notified by mail or telephone within 24 hours after the draw date. Prizes will be delivered within 4-6 weeks of the Winners Notification date. Vehicle prizes may be subjected to longer delivery times.

Where can I find a list of winners?

A searchable winners list will be available online at www.heartandstrokelottery.ca/winners on March 1, 2020. Winners may also be announced on Heart&Stroke Lottery’s social media profiles.

How do I claim my prize?

All winners will be notified by mail, email, and/or telephone. If you have won and have not yet received your letter by April 24, 2020, please contact Customer Service by calling 1-844-512-1044 (in GTA: 416-977-1307) or by emailing lottery@heartandstroke.ca.

How long do I have to claim my prize?

Prize(s) must be claimed no later than six months after the final draw date. Unclaimed prizes will be reported and a charitable allocation to the Foundation will be approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

Are prizes donated?

All prizes for the Heart&Stroke Lottery™ are purchased by the Foundation.

How are the draws conducted?

All draws are conducted at Bay Adelaide East, 8 Adelaide Street West, Suite 200, Toronto, ON M5H 0A9. Winning tickets will be drawn using Random Number Generator (RNG) software.

How many tickets are available in the Heart&Stroke Lottery™?

There are 145,000 tickets available for sale. An additional 7,250 Heart & Stroke Lottery tickets will be drawn as prizes as part of the Super Bonus Draw. Therefore, there are a total of 152,250 Heart & Stroke Lottery tickets.

Who is not eligible to purchase a ticket?

Employees and directors of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, partners and employees of Deloitte LLP and its affiliates, employees of licensed gaming suppliers for this Lottery, and all persons domiciled with any of these individuals, are not eligible to purchase or hold a Lottery ticket.

HOW DO I CHECK THE BALANCE OF MY HEART & STROKE VISA PREPAID CARD?

To check the balance of your VISA Prepaid card please visit prepaidcardstatus.com or call 1-866-230-3809.

WHEN DOES MY HEART & STROKE LOTTERY VISA PREPAID CARD EXPIRE?

The Visa Prepaid Card states that it is “Good Thru to 09/20”. The card is valid after 09/20 with a service charge of 2.95% charged monthly. We encourage you to use your Visa Prepaid card prior to September 30, 2020.

IS THERE A MONTHLY SERVICE CHARGE ON THE HEART & STROKE LOTTERY VISA PREPAID CARDS?

The monthly service charge begins September, 30 2020. We encourage you to use your Visa Prepaid card prior to this time.

What is the Heart & Stroke 50/50 Lottery?

The 50/50 Draw is another exciting way to WIN BIG! Order a 50/50 Draw ticket for a chance to win a minimum jackpot of $500,000 and help us build the biggest jackpot ever!

How much are 50/50 Lottery tickets?

50/50 Draw tickets are $10 each, a 5-pack for $25 and a 15-pack for $50.

Can I order a 50/50 Lottery ticket on its own?

Yes, all tickets for the 50/50 Draw can be purchased separately or as an add-on with your Heart & Stroke Lottery ticket or March Money Lottery ticket.

What is the total jackpot in the 50/50 Lottery?

The 50/50 Lottery comprises one (1) prize and is an accumulating jackpot. The winner will be awarded half of the total 50/50 Lottery jackpot. Last year our jackpot sum grew to over $1.9 Million. Therefore the Jackpot received by the winner was over $900,000. There is a minimum guaranteed payout amount of $500,000 meaning that if the total jackpot does not reach $1,000,000 you still have a chance to win $500,000.

How do I get updates on jackpot size?

As the 50/50 jackpot grows you can get the most up to date amount at www.heartandstrokelottery.ca.

How many 50/50 Draw tickets are available?

There are an unlimited amount of 50/50 Draw tickets available for purchase. The more tickets that are sold, the bigger the jackpot. Don’t hesitate to tell your friends and family to play!

What are the odds of winning the 50/50 Draw?

The odds of winning the 50/50 Draw are dependent on the number of 50/50 Draw tickets sold.

When is the final deadline for ordering 50/50 tickets?

The final 50/50 Deadline to purchase your tickets is Midnight, February 14, 2020.

Early Deadline Prize:
March Money Early Bonus Prize - 15 prizes of $5,000 Cash.

Daily Prizes:
There are a total of 62 prizes of $10,000 each to be awarded for daily draws.
Daily Visa Prepaid Cards: There will be 100 Prepaid Visa Prepaid Cards awarded daily between March 1 to 31, 2020.

Do I have to purchase a Winter 2019/2020 Heart & Stoke Lottery ticket in order to purchase a March Money ticket?

There is no requirement to order a Heart & Stroke Lottery ticket in order to participate in the March Money Lottery.

Can I purchase March Money Lottery ticket on their own?

Yes, you may order your March Money Lottery tickets on their own.

How many names can I list on a Heart & Stroke March Moneey Lottery ticket?

Up to three names can be included on a March Money ticket. Please note that all tickets in a 4-pack, 12-pack, 20-pack or 35-pack must contain the same purchaser information.

What forms of payment is allowed to purchase a March Money ticket?

Please note that only one form of payment is allowed to purchase a March Money Lottery ticket. We accept Cheque, Money Orders, Visa, Mastercard, and Visa Debit to purchase a ticket.

Can I give the Heart & Stroke March Money Lottery ticket as a gift?

Yes, March Money Lottery tickets make the perfect gift especially during the Holiday season. Please note that it is the responsibility of the ticket purchaser to allocate the winnings. The Foundation is only responsible for communicating with the Ticket Purchaser.

How do I ensure that I receive my March Money Lottery tickets to gift in time for the holidays?

Due to the high volumes of mail during the holiday season, we suggest that you order by December 3, 2019 to ensure that you receive your Heart & Stroke March Money Lottery tickets by December 24, 2019.

Where do the funds raised go?

The net proceeds of our lottery sales support our mission and help fund life-saving research in preeminent teaching hospitals and universities across Ontario. Since its inception, the Lottery has raised over $238 million dollars which has helped fund the work of 450 research teams in hospitals, universities and research institutions in communities across Ontario.
