How old do you have to be to purchase Heart & Stroke Lottery tickets?

Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Tickets cannot be ordered in the name of a minor.

Can someone purchase a ticket if they live outside of Ontario of overseas?

You must be physically present in Ontario at the time of ordering Lottery Ticket(s). Ticket(s) must be mailed to an address within Ontario.

How much are Heart & Stroke Lottery tickets?

Heart & Stroke Lottery tickets are $100 each, a 3-pack for $250 and a 5-pack for $375.

How do I order Heart & Stroke Lottery tickets?

There are 3 easy ways to order your lottery ticket(s).

  • Online – Request your Heart & Stroke Lottery ticket(s) online through our SECURE online site at heartandstrokelottery.ca.
  • Phone - Call 1-888-551-1111 (in GTA 416-661-1511)
  • Mail – Fill in the order form on the website or one received in the mail and send it with a cheque made out to:

Are lottery tickets tax deductible?

Lottery tickets are non-tax deductible in accordance with Canada Customs and Revenue Agency policies. You can make a donation in addition to your ticket(s) request and receive a tax receipt for the donation portion of your order if your donation exceeds a minimum of $15.

Why did my online ticket order not go through?

If you are in Ontario and unable to order online, or your order did not go through, please call Customer Service at 1-844-512-1044 (in GTA: 416-977-1307) and we will be pleased to assist you with your order.

When are the Heart & Stroke Lottery tickets on sale?

Tickets are available from September 10, 2018 to February 15, 2019, or while supplies last.

What are the guidelines for purchasing multi-packs?

Guidelines for purchasing multipacks are as follows:

  • Only ONE method of payment.
  • Only ONE mailing address. (Must be in Province of Ontario)
  • Only ONE envelope will be mailed containing all tickets.
  • Up to THREE names may be recorded on a ticket (All tickets must contain the same information). Tickets cannot be purchased in the name of a minor.
My ticket contains a spelling/address error/ I haven’t received my official tickets. What do I do?

If your tickets have been lost; or, have not been received or you wish to make a name or address correction, please contact Customer Service at 1-844-512-1044 (in GTA: 416-977-1307) or by emailing lottery@heartandstroke.ca.

What happens if my payment does not go through?

If for any reason a payment is not processed, the ticket(s) and their respective ticket number(s) will be deemed invalid if payment cannot be verified prior to the start of the draws. Only tickets that have been paid for and/or have been verified as paid for are eligible to be entered for the respective draws.

I have misplaced my Heart & Stroke Lottery ticket, am I still eligible for the draws?

Yes, participants do not need their ticket(s) in hand to be included in the respective draw(s). For all other inquiries please contact Customer Service at 1-844-512-1044 (in GTA: 416-977-1307) or email lottery@heartandstroke.ca

What are the odds of winning in the Heart & Stroke Lottery?

The odds of winning any prize in the Heart & Stroke Lottery are approximately 1 in 2. There are 57,976 prizes available.

What are the Grand Prizes?

There are 7 Grand Prizes this year.

  • GRAND PRIZE #1: 1 Million Dollars
  • GRAND PRIZE #2: 1 Million Dollars
  • GRAND PRIZE #3: A 2019 Thor ACE RV (Model 30.3) OR Cash Out value of $130,000.
  • GRAND PRIZE #4: 2018 Mercedes Benz GLE43 AMG or 2018 BMW X6 xDrive35i OR Cash Out value of $100,000.

What is the Loyalty Prize?

There are five (5) Loyalty Prizes of $10,000 each.

There are two (2) VIP Prizes of $25,000 each.

What is the Travel Canada prize?

There are 6,751 prizes, consisting of 1 prize of $40,000 cash and 6,750 winners of one free $100 Heart & Stroke Lottery ticket.

What is the Early Bird prize?

There is (1) winner of a City and Country Vehicle Package, this package includes (1) 2018 Audi Q7 plus (1) 2018 Ford F150 Limited Ecoboost (value $205,728.93) or cash out of $200,000.

What are the other cash prizes?

There are 50,500 Visa Prepaid card prizes of $25 each. These prizes will be awarded as personalized Visa Prepaid cards.

What are the Resort Package prizes?

(5) Stay and Play packages for two at Horseshoe Resort, include 2 night accommodations, breakfast daily, unlimited golf, all resort amenities plus $1,500 cash

(5) Stay and Play packages for two at Deerhurst Resort, include 2 night accommodations, breakfast daily, unlimited golf, and all resort amenities plus $1,500 cash.

Are lottery winnings taxable?

Lottery winnings are considered a windfall and are not taxable in Canada.

If I win a car or a trip, can I take the cash instead?

Yes, you may take the cash out option for prizes that indicate cash-out value. Please refer to the rules and regulations for a full list of cash-out values.

Can I win more than once?

Yes, after each winning ticket number is drawn and recorded, it is then returned to the pot and is eligible for all subsequent draws, so it is possible to win more than ONE prize.

How will I know if I have won a prize? When can I expect my prize?

All winners will be notified by mail or telephone within 24 hours after the draw date. Prizes will be delivered within 4-6 weeks of the Winners Notification date. Vehicle prizes may be subjected to longer delivery times.

Where can I find a list of winners?

A searchable winners list will be available online at www.heartandstrokelottery.ca/winners on March 1, 2019. Winners may also be announced on Heart & Stroke Lottery’s social media profiles.

How do I claim my prize?

All winners will be notified by mail, email, and/or telephone. If you have won and have not yet received your letter by April 29, 2019, please contact Customer Service by calling 1-844-512-1044 (in GTA: 416-977-1307) or by emailing lottery@heartandstroke.ca.

How long do I have to claim my prize?

Prize(s) must be claimed no later than six months after the final draw date. Unclaimed prizes will be reported and a charitable allocation to the Foundation will be approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

Are prizes donated?

All prizes for the Heart & Stroke Lottery are purchased by the Foundation.

What happens if the Lottery sells prior to the Travel Canada Deadline?

In the event that all tickets for the Classic Lottery are sold before the Travel Canada Deadline (11:59pm, January 18, 2019) draws for all remaining prizes will be made on January 29, 2019 at approx. 10:00am. The first draw will be for the Travel Canada Prize followed by the Early Bird Prize, Final Prize Draws of 7 Grand Prizes, the Merchandise and Other Cash Prizes.

In the event that all tickets for the Classic Lottery are sold before the Early Bird Deadline (February 8, 2019 at 11:59pm) draws for all remaining prizes will be made on February 19, 2019 at approx. 10:00am. The first draw will be for the Early Bird Prize; followed by the Final Prize Draws for the 7 Grand Prizes, the Merchandise and Other Cash Prizes.

How are the draws conducted?

The draw controls are overseen by Deloitte LLP with all draws conducted at Bay Adelaide East, 8 Adelaide Street West, Suite 200, Toronto, ON M5H 0A9. Winning tickets will be drawn using Random Number Generator (RNG) software.

How many tickets are available in the Heart & Stroke Lottery?

There are 135,000 tickets available for sale. An additional 6,750 Heart & Stroke Lottery tickets will be drawn as prizes as part of the Travel Canada Draw. Therefore there are a total of 141,750 Heart & Stroke Lottery tickets.

Who is not eligible to purchase a ticket?

Employees and directors of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, partners and employees of Deloitte LLP and its affiliates, employees of licensed gaming suppliers for this Lottery, and all persons domiciled with any of these individuals, are not eligible to purchase or hold a Lottery ticket.

What is the Heart & Stroke 50/50 Lottery?

The 50/50 Draw is another exciting way to WIN BIG! Order a 50/50 Draw ticket for a chance to win a minimum jackpot of $500,000 and help us build the biggest jackpot ever!

How much are 50/50 Lottery tickets?

50/50 Lottery tickets are $10 each, a 5-pack for $25 and a 15-pack for $50.

Can I order a 50/50 Lottery ticket on its own?

Yes, all tickets for the 50/50 Draw can be purchased separately or as an add-on with your Heart & Stroke Lottery ticket or March Money Lottery ticket.

What is the total jackpot in the 50/50 Lottery?

The 50/50 Lottery comprises one (1) prize and is an accumulating jackpot. The winner will be awarded half of the total 50/50 Lottery jackpot. Last year our jackpot sum grew to over $1.9 Million. Therefore the Jackpot received by the winner was over $900,000. There is a minimum guaranteed payout amount of $500,000 meaning that if the total jackpot does not reach $1,000,000 you still have a chance to win $500,000.

As the 50/50 jackpot grows you can get the most up to date amount at www.heartandstrokelottery.ca.

How many 50/50 Lottery tickets are available?

There are an unlimited amount of 50/50 Draw tickets available for purchase therefore the jackpot can keep growing and growing the more tickets that are sold. Don’t hesitate to tell your friends and family to play!

What are the odds of winning the 50/50 Lottery?

The odds of winning the 50/50 Draw are dependent on the number of 50/50 Draw tickets sold.

What is the final deadline for ordering 50/50 Lottery tickets?

What are the March Money Lottery prizes?

Early Deadline Prizes:
Five (5) First March Money Early Bonus Prizes of $5,000 Cash.
Five (5) Second March Money Early Bonus Prizes of $5,000 Cash

Daily Prizes:
There are a total of 62 prizes of $10,000 each to be awarded for daily draws.
Daily Visa Prepaid Cards: There will be 100 Prepaid Visa Prepaid Cards awarded daily between March 1 to 31, 2019.

There is no requirement to order a Heart & Stroke Lottery ticket in order to participate in the March Money Lottery.

Yes, you may order your March Money Lottery tickets on their own.

How many names can I list on a Heart & Stroke March Money Lottery ticket?

Up to three names can be included on a March Money Lottery ticket. Please note that all tickets in a 4-pack, 12-pack, 20-pack or 35-pack must contain the same purchaser information.

What forms of payment is allowed to purchase a March Money ticket?

Please note that only one form of payment is allowed to purchase a March Money Lottery ticket. We accept Cheque, Money Orders, Visa, Mastercard, and Visa Debit to purchase a ticket.

Is this the same as the 12-month Cash Calendar lottery?

The Heart&Stroke Lottery™ Cash Calendar is not the same as the 12-month Calendar Lottery. The 12-month Calendar Lottery was discontinued in 2015.

Can I give the Heart & Stroke March Money Lottery ticket as a gift?

Yes, March Money Lottery tickets make the perfect gift especially during the Holiday season. Please note that it is the responsibility of the ticket purchaser to allocate the winnings. The Foundation is only responsible for communicating with the Ticket Purchaser.

How do I ensure that I receive my March Money Lottery tickets to gift in time for the holidays?

Due to the high volumes of mail during the holiday season, we suggest that you order by December 3, 2018 to ensure that you receive your Heart & Stroke March Money Lottery tickets by December 24, 2018.

When and where do the draws take place?

Winning tickets will be drawn under the supervision of Deloitte LLP. All prize draws for the Heart & Stroke Lottery will take place at Bay Adelaide East, 8 Adelaide Street West, Suite 200, Toronto, ON M5H 0A9. The sequence of draws will be as follows: The first draw will be for the First March Money Bonus Draw. Only tickets purchased by 11:59pm, December 7, will qualify for the First March Money Bonus Draw (5 Prizes). The draw will take place on December 18, 2018 10:00am. The second draw will be for the Second March Money Bonus Prize. Only tickets purchased by 11:59pm, January 25, 2019 will qualify for the Second March Money Bonus Prize Draw (5 Prizes). The draw will take place on February 5, 2019 10:00am. The next draws will be for the Daily Cash and Daily Visa Prepaid Card Prizes. Only tickets purchased by 11:59 pm, February 15, will qualify for the Daily Cash and Daily Visa Prepaid Cards (3,162 Prizes). The draws will take place on March 1, 2019 10:00am. All winners of the daily Cash prizes and Visa Prepaid Card Prizes will be notified in writing within 2 weeks of the day for which their winning ticket was selected.

Where do the funds raised go?

The net proceeds of our lottery sales support our mission and help fund life-saving research in preeminent teaching hospitals and universities across Ontario. Since its inception, the Lottery has raised over $242 million dollars which has helped fund the work of 450 research teams in hospitals, universities and research institutions in communities across Ontario.
